To become a Licensed Practical Nurse, it only takes around eight months to study in college, and after this period, you can already work in a hospital and perform some simple medical procedures. While this can prolong your time in school, a BS degree will be very helpful for your career since you can have higher salary and have better opportunity to get promoted in a higher position.

Meanwhile, if you are considering to have RN programs, make sure that the school have accreditations from nursing associations and other educational organizations. Remember, accredited schools can provide you more training and medical knowledge while improving your skills.
